1. Water, Water, Water....
I normally save the best till last, but this is my ride or die tip. You'll probably skip this one, but I cannot sing water's praises enough. Our body loses water during the summer months through sweat, and it's super important to replenish for plump skin and a hydrated complexion. I can imagine a lot of summer tipples will be sipped on this summer, so it's also important to balance the two for a clear, glowing visage.
2. Multi-Masking.
Whether it's your standard clay mask or that 24k gold, it's important to keep your skin quenched, clear and glowing. Masks are something I use at least once a week to cure my skin woes, and whats great is that you can use more than one! If my skin is feeling congested I'll opt for a standard clay or charcoal mask, but if my skin is looking dull, something with a bit of citrus will do just the trick. Masks are easy to transport and most of the time you can purchase them for one-time use. I recommend Korean or Japanese sheet masks for a youthful dewy glow, and Lush's Mask of Magnanimity for a weekly detox.
3. Scrub away!
Scrubs are love or hate depending on your skin type, but I do love a good deep clean. Gentle scrubs are good for those with sensitive skin, but I love a coarse weekly scrub that gets all the deep grime out of my pores. Summer time means perspiration so make sure you're getting in a weekly scrub to clear out those pores and remove any dead skin from the surface. I recommend L'Oreal's Red Clay scrub, it smells lush and it feels so dreamy on the skin.
4. Remove that makeup!
A night of sunset siesta means you're probably going to be tired and craving the sweet sheets, but, I must express the importance of removing all that gorgeous beat for a fresh morning glow. A recent survey done by UK dermatologists reveal that 1/3 of British women sleep in their makeup at least twice a week! Sleeping in your slap can leave the skin congested, brittle and cause acne. Don't forget to remove mascara, as studies show that lack of proper cleansing can cause eye infection and lash loss. I recommend a good cleansing oil for an easy one go wash, however, micellar water can do the trick too. Make sure to treat your skin and remove your makeup because you'll find it'll look better in the long run.
5. Love the skin you're in!
In the wise words of Drake, YOLO. You only get one skin, so make sure you love it, treat it well and show it off! Being confident is my most important tip because as women, a lot of us don't. Make sure to embrace the summer and channel you're inner sungoddess!
